Sophie Corrigan goes by the creative name ladyaxolotl, and is a successful illustrator who has successfully made a name for herself through the use of the internet as a free-lance illustrator.
My message-
Hey Sophie!
I have been a fan of your work for a while, and love your
cute sense of humour that come though your illustrations. I am about to
graduate from Leeds arts University after studying animation for 3 years, and I
am hoping to transition into becoming a free-lance illustrator and animator. I
was hoping if you could offer any advice to me as a young female practitioner,
any advice would help majorly!
- How was your transition into a free lance illustrator and
crafter? And how did you get to this successful point?
- Are there any significant issues you have come across in
your career so far that have helped shape you as a successful business?
- Is there any significant advice you could offer me about
the business side of being an illustrator?
- Do you ever find it hard to be creative? if so, how do you
tackle your creative block?
Thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail! Any
advice would help me so much!
I decided to get in contact with her as a fan of her work. I wanted to ask questions about the business side that comes with being an online based illustrator. she has had her work made into greeting cards that I have seen in shops like scribbler and paper-chase. Her style is unique and her sense of humour shines through her work, which is something I want to be successful at as well.
Hopefully she will get back to me as I feel like she is a great example of a woman crafter who has made a name for herself.
